Location/Division Specific Information Rockwood, TN Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Process Engineer is responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring operational systems to reduce cost, remove waste, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the business. This position liaises with business leaders to identify, assess, and analyze opportunities for continuous improvement, directly interacts with business teams to align training and improvement plans with their strategic objectives, and ensures that projects have clear ownership within the business to drive execution. Coaching and mentoring of the PPI (Practical Process Improvement) Business System philosophies and tools to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity improvement targets Development of Current and Future State value stream maps that provide business teams with a roadmap for driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost productivity improvements. This individual will be responsible for management of a structured Project Management program, including coaching and mentoring of the tools and concepts. This individual will also lead key business projects and optimize workflow and cell designs. Aligns Business Unit PPI Steering Committee activities with business strategy to target most impactful projects and facilitates determination of the project methodology to be applied (Project Management, Formal PPI, Solo PPI, Kaizen, RCCM, Just Do It, etc.) to ensure effective execution. Partners with Business Unit leadership team in defining the overall strategies necessary to improve customer, operational, and financial performance as well as accelerate the cultural changes necessary to support the PPI-Business System program. Lead and facilitate continuous improvement efforts in support of corporate strategic goals; including providing lean training to departments and teams and leading kaizen events. Challenge organizational leaders as necessary to create a culture of continuous improvement and accountability to improve their KPI's, including growth, productivity, asset utilization, inventory, and customer allegiance Key
Responsibilities:
Responsible to track & drive the actions to close gaps in PPI Productivity goals at the Site Act as a change agent and constantly challenge the status quo. Partner with other Process Managers across organization to manage and support cross-functional improvement activities, identify best practices within and outside the company, and serve as a conduit for best-practice sharing and adoption Deliver training in the PPI Business System such as lean leadership, value stream mapping, kaizen, daily management, waste and variation elimination, material flow, standard work, cellular flow, SMED, 5S, visual management, lean sourcing, lean office, built-in quality, etc. Capture & record training and project improvements. Align projects to support business needs and targets. Track and control progress, schedule, and associated costs to deliver projects on time and on budget. Research, acquire, and qualify equipment to alleviate manufacturing bottlenecks, and recurring issues Partner with Finance personnel to evaluate project savings estimates, validate reported PPI benefits, and ensure accurate accounting of PPI Productivity Support development of process managers and kaizen leaders within the business functional areas to support on-going process improvement. Transfer PPI Lean knowledge and build internal PPI Lean bench strength to drive a sustainable PPI Business System Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes, evaluate and improve on processes in manufacturing systems, and develop innovative solutions & perform process simulations and risk assessments Optimize existing equipment, processes, and standard work to increase yield, reduce defects, and increase production efficiency. Must have the ability to travel to offsite locations, company related training, or conferences. Other responsibilities as determined by the Site Leader How will I get there? Minimum Education and Experience Requirements BS Degree in Industrial Engineering with 2
years' experience in process improvement or BS degree in other disciplines with 5
years' experience in process improvement. Proficient in Lean tools and methodologies:
Kaizen, RCCM, Six-Sigma, Value-Stream mapping, etc AutoCAD, Visio, SQL, & Microsoft Office Suite proficiency a must Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions Must possess strong coaching, project management, organizational and facilitation skills Must have ability to influence/communicate at all levels of the organization with a collaborative approach Must have excellent interpersonal, time management, decision-making and conflict management skills Passion for driving business improvement and leading change in a large, complex, global environment Accomplished written, oral and presentation skills and comfortable speaking in front of and leading others Must maintain high ethical standards to support a professional business code of conduct Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values - Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement This position may interact daily with Production, Customer Service, IT, ES&H, Inventory, Planning, Quality, HR, Leadership, Contractors, etc. Our Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
